River tubing makes a great “second day” activity as well as a more relaxing alternative for those who don’t wish to go rafting. Bask in the summer sun as your toes splash about in the cool water.

Located just 2.7 miles north of the Three Rivers base, sits the Inn By The River where our tubing trips begin at 11 AM daily. There you can rent inflatable tubes, at $25 each. This also includes a PFD as well as transportation back to the inn. We recommend renting an extra tube to float a cooler down with you. What’s better than a picnic lunch on the river? Especially with some sandwiches orders to-go right at the inn.

After a very short safety speech you will walk your tube down the driveway, and put in on the water directly across the street- it’s that easy! Then you are off on your very own Maine river tubing excursion. The day is yours to relax and play on the river. The tubes can tether so your group can float down together. It is important to note that tubing is a self-guided activity. You will not have a guide with you on the water, so you will be responsible for your own safety.

Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for wildlife, especially for bald eagles, who frequent the banks of the Lower Kennebec. This is also a perfect opportunity to bring along a waterproof camera to capture your favorite Maine memories.

The trips is 6.5 miles long and typically takes 2.5 to 3 hours to complete. There will be a shuttle waiting for you at the take out spot to bring you right back to the inn.
